How did you get into Industrial Design?
I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a designer. During high school we visited the Cleveland Institute of Art and saw the industrial design/interior design thesis show. It opened my eyes to the idea people can do things like this for a living.
How would you describe your design style?
I believe in simplicity and subtlety. Once you have mastered those then you can go on to decorate and detail.
What was your first cell phone?
My first phone was a Motorola v60i, an excellent flip phone with an aluminum exterior, durable as can be. I graduated from that to a Motorola PEBL, which I feel was a greatly under-appreciated phone. How cool was the star trek style opening action on that phone?! These days it’s all iPhone, even with the latest Droid, HTC, 4Gsss, and such, the iPhone is still great in so many ways.
Name the strangest thing that has happened to your phone?
My phones are often guinea pigs for whatever new products come into the office, all my old phones are still around here stuffed into cases.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Guilty? Beer, food, video games, concerts… but I don’t feel guilty about any of it! I mostly feel guilty about personal projects, and design projects for friends and family members that fall by the wayside while I am out enjoying my time.
